Roth IRA Calculator

Estimate how a Roth IRA could grow with regular contributions. You enter the contribution amount yourself.

How it works

Your annual contribution is spread evenly over each year and the balance grows monthly at the expected return.

If you set a contribution growth rate, the annual amount increases once a year.

Results split the ending value into contributions and growth.

Formula & methodology

Balance(next month) = Balance × (1 + r) + annual contribution ÷ 12
r
(1 + annual return)^(1/12) − 1

Contribution limits and income eligibility rules are not applied — check current IRS rules.

Illustrative example

Age 30, $5,000 balance, $6,000 a year

At a 6% return until 65, the projected value and the split between contributions and growth appear in the results.

Hypothetical figures for illustration only.
