Savings Goal Calculator

Pick a goal and a target month to see the monthly amount needed to get there.

How it works

The calculator counts the months from now until your target month.

Your current savings grow with monthly compounding at the rate you enter.

It solves for the level end-of-month deposit that reaches the goal on time.

Formula & methodology

PMT = (Goal − Current × (1 + r)^n) × r ÷ ((1 + r)^n − 1)
r
Annual rate ÷ 12
n
Months until the target date

At 0% interest, PMT = (Goal − Current) ÷ n.

Illustrative example

$25,000 in about three years

Starting with $3,000 at 4% and a target month three years from now (the default), the results show the monthly deposit, total contributions and interest.

Hypothetical figures for illustration only.
