Cumulative GPA Calculator

Enter your current cumulative GPA and credits, then add this semester's classes to see what your new cumulative GPA will be.

How to use the cumulative GPA calculator

Enter your current cumulative GPA and the total credits you've completed — both are on your transcript or student portal.

Add each course you're taking this semester with the grade you expect and its credit hours. The calculator shows your semester GPA and your projected new cumulative GPA as you type.

Try different expected grades to see what you need to reach a goal. Need your semester GPA on its own? Use the High School GPA Calculator, or browse all Grade & GPA Calculators.

How cumulative GPA is calculated

New GPA = (current GPA × credits done + semester quality points) ÷ total credits
Quality points
Grade points × credits for each course
Total credits
Credits done + this semester's credits

Classes with more credits pull your cumulative GPA harder. The more credits you've completed, the less one semester can move it.

New courses use the unweighted 4.0 scale shown next to the result.

Illustrative example

Example: raising a 3.2 cumulative GPA

You have a 3.2 GPA over 30 credits (96 quality points). This semester you earn an A in all 15 credits: 15 × 4.0 = 60 points.

New cumulative GPA = (96 + 60) ÷ 45 = 3.47.

Hypothetical figures for illustration only.
