A risk-sizing calculation based only on your inputs — not a trading recommendation. Slippage and fees are not included.

How it works

Dollar risk is your balance times your risk percentage. Dividing it by the distance to your stop gives the position size.

A stop below entry implies a long position; a stop above entry implies a short.

Formula & methodology

Risk $ = Balance × Risk %
Size = Risk $ ÷ |Entry − Stop|

Fees and slippage are ignored, so actual losses can be slightly larger.

Illustrative example

1% risk on $10,000

Risking $100 with entry $60,000 and stop $58,500 ($1,500 away) gives a size of 0.0667 units, worth about $4,000.
